The Carthage Convention & Visitor’s Bureau & UMB kick off summer by bringing a live outdoor concert to the June Carthage Historic Downtown Art Walk.
The theme for the event is Historic Route 66 and Tom Jones of Carthage will be the featured artist with work available to view at UMB Bank on the Square. “The Carthage Historic Downtown Art Walk in June will feature a live concert with Leon Troyer on Friday and a kid train on Saturday,” states Wendi Douglas, Executive Director of the Carthage CVB. “We have really made an effort to provide more entertainment and we are hoping to really impress the community with this event. We will have face painting, hot dogs, hamburgers, cotton candy and tropical snow in addition to our daily food options. We are excited to offer a festival type atmosphere to this event.”
The Carthage Square is a prime backdrop for the event. Several established galleries are located around the square along with dining options and live music that runs later in the evening. Friday festivities kick off at 6 p.m. with over 20 artists and more than a dozen venues participating. Saturday starts off at 10 a.m. with a variety of family oriented activities.
Carthage Historic Downtown Art Walk is proudly sponsored by UMB, Carthage Council on the Arts, Cornerstone Family Dental, Leggett & Platt, Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital and Powers Museum. For event specifics and dates, visit www.carthageartwalk.org or contact Wendi Douglas 417-359-8181.
